The project
Banquete is the musical work in which Luís Roquette states that the table, the altar, is always set for everyone. The idea was born at a Mass: a person may not be married, may not have the other sacraments, but the Eucharist happens every day, and so does the banquet.
The concert
It was created by Luís Roquette with visual artist António Sousa Lara, both parishioners of Estoril and Cascais. Live music meets original paintings inspired by the biblical chronology.
The premiere, in March 2024 (15th and 27th), was a journey from Genesis to the Resurrection, with original music, video art and light. Band and singers gather around a table, like a banquet whose food is the divine word.

Inspirations
- The paintings of João de Sousa Araújo and music linked to the visual arts.
- Frei Hermano da Câmara and fado.
- “The Wall”, by Pink Floyd.
- The films of Mel Gibson.
The wish to bear witness to the Christian faith through art brings all these influences together.
Banquette da Verdade
On 1 April 2026, at 9 pm, Luís Roquette and António Sousa Lara presented Banquette da Verdade at the Auditório Sra. da Boa Nova in São João do Estoril. The spelling “Banquette” is from the event listing; it is not assumed to be the same show as Banquete.
